The School of Materials leverages the synergy of engineering and science.
Drawing faculty, courses, research and programs from both the Fulton School of Engineering and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the school offers students a state-of-the-art education with an interdisciplinary approach to the study of materials: mechanical and electrical engineering fused with chemistry and physics. Materials science is concerned with the fundamental relationships among structure, processing, properties, and performance of materials. The program is one of the best in the country, with strong industry interaction with Intel, Motorola, Boeing and General Electric.
The Center for Engineered Materials (CEMAT)
The Center for Engineered Materials (CEMAT) in the School of Materials at ASU is an industry/university/national laboratory center focused on science and technology of engineered materials. The Center will develop cross-cutting solutions for problems in complex advanced systems starting with electronic packaging systems (a key concern in the International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors, ITRS.)
